Hunt the Haggis

Welcome to a new and exciting family-friendly treasure hunt in Balmaha, Loch Lomond.

Dotted around our beautiful village you will find a number of Haggis Houses. The wild Haggis, a creature steeped in Scottish legend, is said to have multiple species, many of which have been known to inhabit Balmaha. Sightings are rare, with only a few fleeting eyewitness accounts.

Tips for Hunting Haggis in Balmaha, Loch Lomond

1. Stay Quiet
   When approaching a Haggis habitat, silence is essential. They are highly sensitive to noise and will disappear at the slightest disturbance. Bagpipes, loud voices, or sudden movements will send them scurrying into hiding.

2. Watch the Hillsides
   The Haggis is known for its unique way of navigating steep slopes, running in circles due to its uneven leg lengths. Keep a close eye on the hills around Balmaha, particularly in the early morning or late evening when they are most active.

3. Search Near the Water’s Edge
   While Haggis prefer higher ground, they occasionally venture towards the loch to drink. Quietly scanning the shoreline may reveal small trails leading to and from the undergrowth.
